Frequently asked questions
How are the masks made?
Our masks are home-sewn by our Founder, Alison Ruiz. As a nurse clinician and educator, she designs masks that are made according to public health and CDC recommendations.
What materials are the masks made of?
There are two layers of 100% cotton and a filter insert for added protection.
Do the masks come with a filter?
Not at the moment. We recommend using coffee filters or if available, Hepa filters such as this: https://www.amazon.ca/3M-Filtrete-MAHAMOK-30x60-cut/dp/B003DWE3OQ.
What is the best way to care for the masks?
We recommend hand-washing or if machine washing, use gentle cycle and place the masks in mesh laundry bags as you would for delicate items.
How do I safely wear masks?
For best practice guidelines, please follow recommendations as per Public Health of Canada: https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/prevention-risks/how-put-remove-clean-non-medical-masks-face-coverings.html
